Tomer Capone on Looking Beyond Sexuality Labels in Season 4 of The Boys

The highly anticipated return of Prime Video’s The Boys has arrived and we were thrilled to be joined by Tomer Capone to talk about the newest additions to his character's identity this season. In particular, he noted the changes in Frenchie's physicality, including his posture and hair, and the opportunity it gave to present a fresh version of the character. The latest season also introduced a new love interest for Frenchie and Tomer highlighted that Frenchie is so enigmatic that he doesn’t feel the need to label his sexuality. Beyond romantic connections, Kimiko’s evolving friendship with Frenchie was important to Tomer, as their quiet conversations provided a stark contrast to the overall loudness of the show. He emphasized his close working relationship with Karen Fukuhara and discussed their scene preparations, including the challenges of learning how to sign.

Tomer reflected on his past experiences with his character and recalled the nerves of adapting the comic book, then using a French accent to develop his confidence for the role. Now that he’s familiar with the part, Tomer treats Frenchie like a friend and even reads his scripts as if Frenchie is sitting next to him. After being involved with the show for several years, the cast and crew have developed a close-knit community and genuine friendships that have enhanced the supportive environment on set.
