Megan Stott on filming in the wildnerss for Netflix’s Penelop

Megan Stott joined us to speak about leading the Netflix series Penelope. She was immediately drawn in by the scripts written by Mark Duplass and the idea of a character who wants to step away from the noise of every day life into the woods. She spoke to how Penelope is someone who does connect with other people one on one but is someone who it likely takes a little time to draw out of her shell and through the series we see interactions with other characters at various touchpoints. One of her favorite moments of the series was when Penelope discovers a bear cub in the woods and through the need to have someone to talk to, begins telling it things. Her relationship with showrunner Mel Eslyn was something which she really cherished throughout the process particularly given the remote setting of where they were filming. Through filming on location this also allowed a unique way to step into the mindset of the character as she felt herself building her own relationship with her surroundings alongside her character.
