Greg Davies and Alex Horne on the magic of Taskmaster even after 19 seasons
Greg Davies and Alex Horne sat down with us to talk about Taskmaster as the show heads into season 19. They both still have a huger amount of affinity for the show and their work on it, and find that each season still feels different because of what each new group of contestants bring to the table. Over several seasons of the show they have found how to bring both themselves and their personas into the foreground of the show, discussing Greg’s love of leaning into the character of a true authoritarian, whilst Alex admitted that the assistent archetype isn’t too far away from himself.
As well as the contestants on screen, they also spoke to the importance of the team working judiciously behind the scenes to create the show, including the editors who really elevate the material and the footage of the tasks.
Alex also shared some of what goes into writing and creating tasks for the show, very much viewing them as a the setup to a joke where the comedians and participants on the show get to complete the punchline.

Q&A on Series 19 of Taskmaster with hosts Greg Davies & Alex Horne. Moderated by Mara Webster, In Creative Company.
Greg Davies is the `Taskmaster' in this game show that challenges the wit and wisdom of five celebrities, who are all putting their reputations on the line. Sidekick Alex Horne assists Davies in setting up unique and ridiculous tasks for the competitors, which include painting a picture of a horse whilst riding a horse, and making a portrait of a celebrity using only toilet rolls. The competition is further fuelled by the fact that the prize pot is made up of each person's personal possessions, which they will lose to the overall winner.
