Maddie Ziegler and Emily Hampshire on Telling a Coming-Of-Age Story in Fitting In

We were recently joined by Maddie Ziegler and Emily Hampshire to talk about their roles in the film Fitting In and the importance of accurately representing people who have Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome. They spoke about working with director/writer Molly McGlynn to develop their characters’ mother-daughter dynamic and drawing from her experiences with MRKH to portray the physical and emotional complexities of growing up with the affliction. Both Maddie and Emily emphasized that while the film is centered around a rare reproductive condition, it is primarily a coming-of-age story about self-empowerment and embracing who you are.
