Cynthia Erivo on Stepping Behind the Camera for Drift

Cynthia Erivo stepped behind the camera as a producer for the first time in making Drift in which she also plays the lead role of a woman who is recovering from a trauma in her past. Cynthia shared how she approached such an internal role and the significance in having Alia Shawkat as a scene partner throughout. Alongside this, their time spent together off screen allowed them to find the comfortability in sitting in silence at times and how that vitally informed their characters on screen presence with one and other. She also shared the organic journey in writing and performing a song for the movie and how it came together.
