Claire Foy on Staying Emotionally Grounded for All of Us Strangers

Claire Foy met with us to talk about her role in the film All of Us Strangers and the challenge of staying grounded when working on such a heart-wrenching story. For her, it was refreshing to play a supernatural character that begins with a muted emotional capacity as a result of being literally stuck in the past. She spoke about the specific details of the costumes in several key scenes and the massive role they played in creating the feeling that the characters were reliving the 80’s. To heighten the intensity of the character’s sentiments, she worked with the movements of the cameras to follow the emotional changes in the scenes. With regard to the most touching scenes in the film, Claire shared her experience working with Andrew Scott to convey the complex relationship between a mother and son, and how their perceptions of each other change as they grow as people.
