Sasheer Zamata on being part of the coven in Agatha All Along
Sasheer Zamata was excited to step into playing Jennifer Kale in Agatha All Along for a multitude of reasons including her love of the idea of being part of a coven alongside cast members Kathryn Hahn, Patti Lupone and Ali Ahn. She spoke extensively about Jennifer's backstory in having had her power bound and the fact this is obviously a point of trauma for her. This set the stage for a lot of the character for her as she was developing and playing her on screen. One of the aspects which helped her to immerse into the role was the fact that on set the locations and effects are all practical wherever possible so she had the opportunity to quite literally walk down the witches road. Her character in the series delivered the infamous line 'you sound pitchy' to Patti Lupone's character Lilia and whilst she found this intimidating, she also shared how Patti had a great sense of humor about this and was an incredibly collaborative scene partner throughout their time on the show together. She also spoke to Jennifer's history with Agatha, where she shares a great mistrust of her but also how the two start to see more vulnerability in one and other. Because of this mistrust she also felt protective over Teen in wanting him to know he is dealing with. Overall she found a real sense of sisterhood in the coven that was the cast of the show.
