Actors Elle Fanning & Joshua Jackson on Process and True Crime

We were thrilled to be able to sit down with actors Elle Fanning & Joshua Jackson to talk about their wonderful performances in their respective tv shows, The Girl From Plainville and Dr. Death.  The two shows had many elements in common for the two of them as they both spoke to their processes in how they approached telling true crime stories and playing real people.

Joshua Jackson felt that he had a little latitude in how he played Christopher Duntsch because people were familiar with the Wondry podcast that his character was based on and the story, but maybe not what he looked like or how he moved as much.  For Elle Fanning, she was tasked with playing a character in a story which is still very recent in peoples minds and a lot of audiences members come with a strong familiarity too already.

Each actor had an extensive number of scenes taking place in court, and they each shared their experiences of filming these types of scenes where their characters are listening to what is said about them and yet not able to respond and how this uniquely informed their performances in these moments.

The two actors shared a lot of respect for each others performances as well as a shared admiration for Patrick Macmanus who was a showrunner and creative across both shows.
