Elizabeth Debicki on the Responsibility of Playing Princess Diana

For Elizabeth Debicki, there was a lot of responsibility in joining the most recent season of The Crown and in knowing this was a role that was going to require extensive research and homework. To prepare, she carried the character and the voice around with her as often as she could to become fully immersed into Princess Diana. There was a lot of delicacy in portraying this particular time for her character and through the show she hopes it will offer another window into what life may have been like behind closed doors for Diana during this period. Since the show has an extensive array of background material, there was no shortage of resources available to her in finding the details which would ultimately become the most useful tools in shaping her performance. Despite the immense challenges of the role and portraying such an iconic character on screen, she felt that it was all worth it for her to play such a richly textured woman.
