Tom Ellis on Stepping onto a New Set for Players

Tom Ellis spoke with us about tackling his role in the Netflix Romantic Comedy film Players alongside Gina Rodriguez.  He shared how it was slightly terrifying stepping onto a new set since this was the first project he filmed after wrapping up on several seasons of Lucifer.

He found the fun in playing a character who on the surface seems very charming and alluring, but is actually a little bit self obsessed and very much in love with himself.  In playing alongside Gina Rodriguez he reveled in the ability to share scenes together and had a lot of admiration for her approach to her work.  Since they had both had the experience of being the lead on a show and then tackling projects since there was also a shared common ground in this.  Players allowed him to take his enjoyment of comedy and the fun of playing comedy in different spaces, giving credit to his time on the British sitcom Miranda as his training ground for comedy alongside Miranda Hart.
