Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid on the Romantic Entanglements in Interview With a Vampire

We recently sat down with Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid, who play Louis du Pointe de Lac and Lestat de Lioncourt in the AMC fantasy series Interview With a Vampire.  In Season 2, Louis and Armand are bonded by their mutual tormented histories with Lestat.  Reid found himself wondering if fans would get annoyed with his character for the lingering feelings keeping Louis and Armand apart, but ultimately found that precise direction from the series’ showrunner Rolin Jones encouraged Lestat to watch their attraction unfold with a wink. Meanwhile, Anderson’s Louis is wrestling with the internal struggle between his humanity, and his true nature as an apex predator.  Season 2 delves into the psychology of the entangled relationships, which span different time periods, and both actors found that the quiet focus of the set allowed them to listen deeply to the points of view of each character and read each other’s subtle mannerisms.

Based on Anne Rice's iconic novel,  Interview With a Vampire follows Louis de Pointe's epic story of love, blood and the perils of immortality, as told to the journalist Daniel Molloy.
