Eric Bana on Maintaining the Suspense in Force of Nature: The Dry 2

We were joined by Eric Bana, in addition to Deborra-Lee Furness, Robert Connolly and Jane Harper, to discuss his process for continuing the thrilling story of The Dry in its sequel, Force of Nature: The Dry 2. Eric highlighted the importance of maintaining continuity from the previous film and building on his established understanding of Aaron as his personal journey progressed. He focused on the story's premise, exploring different responses to stressful situations and leveraging dialogue to highlight his character's internal conflicts and ethical dilemmas. The film’s natural setting played a specific role in this, as the environment informed the actors’ performances and allowed Eric to create a distinct approach to each character’s unique response in the bush. He also discussed the challenge of incorporating flashbacks to determine how much of his character's past to reveal in order to perpetuate suspense while still allowing the audience to draw their own conclusions. Eric emphasized that the sequel film serves as a continuation of the storyline in the book adaptation of The Dry and they were dedicated to faithfully portraying author Jane Harper’s visions for the characters.
