Sophia Di Martino on Human Connection and Vulnerability in Season 2 of Loki

For season two of Loki, Sophia Di Martino wanted to emphasize Sylvie’s personal journey with human connection and the newfound strength she discovers in being vulnerable. She spoke with us about the significance of Sylvie's costumes, particularly her boots, and the deliberate changes in her appearance that helped to convey her character’s arc. Despite the large-scale production of a Marvel series, Sophia had creative input on Sylvie's evolution and storyline, and expressed appreciation for the collaborative environment on set.

Sophia recalled her initial process for becoming familiar with Sylvie and the preparation she did to prepare for season one. She highlighted her meticulous study of Tom Hiddleston's Loki to develop her understanding of Sylvie's character, while also focusing on subtle differences in stunts and physicality to distinguish the two. This included drawing inspiration from cat-like movements and developing her character's specific accent.
