Lovie Simone, Michael Cooper Jr. & creator Mara Brock Akil Talk About Forever

Lovie Simone, Michael Cooper Jr., and creator Mara Brock Akil sat down with us to disucss creating their Netflix series Forever. For creator and showrunner Mara, she was excited by the propect of adapating Judy Blume’s classic novel and exploring the idea of different types of forever love in line with the show.

Lovie discussed how she built her character with a lot of reverence for a recent trauma she has experienced and is still recovering from when we first meet her, and how this shaped her being a little more closed off to people at first. Michael shared how his character has been on a path in life without questioning whether it’s what he really wants. Each of their characters go through journeys of self discovery and also learn a lot about each other and help to elevate the other just as much.
